Diesel delivery drivers across the UK could make use of the Freight Transport Association's (FTA) Managing Drivers guide, Shell UK has claimed.
The international oil and fuel company has given its backing to the publication as a means of improving driver awareness regarding their licence responsibilities and the implications of failing to comply with the rules.
Perrin Baker, Shell UK Oil's senior UK marketing manager for commercial fleet, said: "Achieving fuel efficiency with smarter driving techniques and better journey management will have a real impact on a company's bottom line. This guide will allow businesses to achieve just that."
Shell stated the new guide will help in the recruitment and induction of new drivers to ensuring their fleets are being driven safely, legally and efficiently.
Meanwhile, figures from the FTA recently revealed operating costs for UK hauliers have risen by 5.6 per cent in the year to July 1st 2011.
