FTAI backs European road safety - February,12
The Freight Transport Association Ireland (FTAI) has signed up to the European Road Safety Charter.
According to the organisation, the move will promote safer working practices for businesses in the haulage industry that are operating in Ireland, with all of the organisation's members now invited to participate in the initiative.
Aidan Flynn, FTAI general manager of business services, said: "We are delighted to sign up to the European Road Safety Charter. FTA Ireland's goal is to promote operator compliance and, as a consequence, promote road safety issues to our members."
It provides an opportunity for businesses to come together to discuss best practices and will play a positive part in making the roads safer in the future.
The charter is open to all organisations operating within the EU and aims to raise awareness regarding the need for responsible haulage practices in order to reduce the number of road accidents, injuries and fatalities each year.
